Planned Giving/Legacy Donations
What will your legacy be? You can make a donation to Homeless Youth Connection that will last into the next generation and beyond, making a difference in the lives of homeless students long after you’re gone. Consider these ways to leave your legacy:
- Make a bequest to HYC in your will. This option costs you nothing during your lifetime, but will help us to sustain HYC’s programs in the future. Below is some sample language to include HYC in your estate plans.
Percentage of estate for unrestricted purposes:
I give, devise, and bequeath to Homeless Youth Connection, Inc., a not-for-profit organization located in Goodyear, Arizona, _______ percent (%) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate as an unrestricted gift to be used at the discretion of the Board of Directors of Homeless Youth Connection for the general purposes of Homeless Youth Connection.
Specific amount for unrestricted purposes:
I give, devise, and bequeath to Homeless Youth Connection, Inc., a not-for-profit organization located in Goodyear, Arizona, the sum of $____________ in cash or in-kind to be used at the discretion of the Board of Directors of Homeless Youth Connection for the general purposes of Homeless Youth Connection.
You may also designate your bequest to support a particular program or purpose. Please consult your attorney for the required language for such a bequest.
- List Homeless Youth Connection as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, IRA or other qualified retirement benefits. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding the tax benefits of such gifts.
It can be costly to pass such assets on to heirs because of heavy tax consequences. By naming HYC as a beneficiary, you maintain complete control over the funds, and the plan passes to support HYC upon your death, free of both estate and income taxes. Making this type of charitable gift is easy and should not cost you any attorney fees. Simply request a change of beneficiary form from your plan administrator. When you are done, return the form to your plan administrator and notify Homeless Youth Connection.
If you have already included Homeless Youth Connection in your estate plans, please let us know so that we can recognize you as a Legacy Donor.
