AZ Charitable Tax Credit

If you are a resident of Arizona, one of the easiest ways to make a difference in the lives of youth experiencing homelessness is through the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit. This tax credit is a way for state taxpayers to redirect their state tax dollars to organizations and causes that are important to them. The state of Arizona provides an incredible incentive for taxpayers who donate to certain qualifying charities like Homeless Youth Connection.

When you donate to HYC, you may receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your AZ state return—up to $421 for individuals and $841 for those filing jointly for 2023 and up to $470 for individuals and $938 for those filing jointly for 2024. Donate up to the eligible amounts to HYC by April 15th and get that right back in your AZ tax return. HYC’s Qualifying Charitable Tax Code is 20200. Donors are required to use this code when taking the tax credit on their income tax returns.

You can help transform the lives of at-risk youth in Maricopa County at no additional cost to you. Please take full advantage of this opportunity to help youth experiencing homelessness. Encourage your family and friends to take advantage of the charitable tax credit while supporting HYC. For more details, consult your tax professional.

Homeless Youth Connection’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 27-3182999.

Monthly Donors

Throughout the year, HYC works to eliminate barriers to graduation for youth experiencing homelessness and creates lasting solutions for a successful future through community support and increased awareness. With your help as a monthly donor, we can continue to eliminate those barriers as a community. Your monthly gift means more consistent and timely funding. This allows HYC to be strategic in our growth and better able to plan the use of our resources in offering critical services to homeless youth seeking help.

Choose the amount you would like to give each month and give a youth experiencing homelessness hope. Your monthly contribution can and will make a difference.

  • $10 per month will help contribute to medical co-pays and prescriptions
  • $25 per month will help contribute to academic fees for classes or bus passes
  • $45 per month will help contribute to meals for students without access to food
  • $95 per month will cover HYC services for one student for one year
  • $165 per month will cover one week of emergency home services for one student in urgent crisis

Your credit card will be charged once per month. Each January, we will send you a tax receipt for your giving history from the previous year. Click here to enroll in our monthly giving program. For questions or for additional information, contact Dawn, dmboeck@hycaz.org.

Legacy Gifts

What will your legacy be? You can make a donation to Homeless Youth Connection that will last into the next generation and beyond, making a difference in the lives of youth experiencing homelessness long after you’re gone.

Make a bequest to HYC in your will. This option costs you nothing during your lifetime but will help us to sustain HYC’s program in the future. To schedule a time to meet and discuss your legacy, contact Dana Bailey, dbailey@hycaz.org.

You are urged to seek the advice of your tax advisor, attorney, and/or financial planner to make certain any gift you are considering fits well in your specific circumstances.

Corporate Giving

Corporate giving includes investments and activities a company voluntarily undertakes to conscientiously make an impact on the community. HYC benefits from committed companies and foundations that invest financial support, donate products, provide in-kind services and employee volunteers to advance the work of our organization. Corporate and foundation support plays a major role in supporting HYC’s mission. If you represent a corporation or foundation and would like to learn more about available opportunities, please contact Dawn Bogart, dbogart@hycaz.org.

Workplace Giving

One of the easiest, most effective ways you can support HYC is through workplace giving. Workplace giving — often takes form in payroll contributions — allows HYC to provide services to youth experiencing homelessness with basic needs and resources needed to stay in school, graduate and make a plan for their future.

Most private employers, federal, state and local governments offer payroll deduction opportunities. Payroll deduction is an employer-sponsored program that empowers you to support HYC with a tax-deductible donation given directly from your paycheck. Payroll deduction is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to support HYC. Check with your Human Resources Department to find out if your company participates in any programs to get started.

Matching Gifts

Double your donation to HYC! Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Additionally, some companies even provide matching funds for employee volunteer hours. To find out if your company matches gifts and/or volunteer hours, contact your HR department to ask about charitable match programs.

Matching gift forms can be mailed to:

In-Kind Donations

In‐kind donations are essential for HYC to help youth experiencing homelessness stay in school, graduate and thrive. We rely on individual and community in-kind donations to connect our youth with the hygiene products, school supplies and other resources they need. You can support HYC by donating items that are urgently needed by our youth today. Please note, we are not currently accepting clothing donations.

Check out our needs list here and reach out to us at (602) 847-4300 or info@hycaz.org to schedule a time to drop off your donation.

In-Kind Donation Drives

Hosting a donation drive is an excellent way to support youth experiencing homelessness! It not only helps youth in our program who need basic supplies, but it can also promote a giving culture among a group of people. Collaborate with others from your business, organization, school or church to collect items in high demand by our youth and raise awareness for Homeless Youth Connection. If you are interested in hosting a donation drive, please contact info@hycaz.org, for more information and to coordinate a drop-off time for your donation.
